Mission & Activities
SPoD is a national non-governmental LGBTI organization in Turkey. Founded in 2011 by LGBTI activists, SPoD works for equality and human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex people at the national level. Main activity areas of SPoD can be summarized into five, which are:
1) Economic and social rights (Trainings for professionals, working groups, etc)
2) Legal issues (Legal consultation, training to lawyers, strategic litigation)
3) Political participation (Campaigns for elections, LGBTI-friendly municipalities)
4) Knowledge production (National-level research on LGBTI’s problems)
5) Social events (Community building events)
