Huge success for our Pro Bono Week May 2015

24.05.2015

75 professionals, 9 parallel sessions of brainstorming, 15.000USD of free Pro Bono consulting services, international participant and a training of the main NGOs intermediary in Turkey..this summarizes quite good our Pro Bono Week of last week.

We started the week with a training gathering participants from Ashoka, Koç University Social Impact Forum, Adim Adim, Bilgi Social Incubation Center, TUSEV, BMGI, Impact Hub Istanbul, etc. We even had a participant from Lebanon. The idea was to develop all together, with the support of the tools of Pro Bono Lab, a method to be able to support more NGOs than what the C@rma team can handle. How can we approach them more efficiently and how can we all identify better their needs. Yörük Kurtaran also gave us an overview of the Turkish third sector and we could share different experiences about difference with the corporate world.

We closed the week with our Pro Bono Week. We had our 8 NGOs with all their challenges but we had to duplicate the teams to address the demand of all the professionals willing to support them.

  • Hayata Destek: How can we manage our growing recruitment needs? Is there any HR software system you could advice us to use
  • Koruncuk 1: how can we motivate further the corporate running teams to gather more runner for Korunçuk
  • Koruncuk 2: How can we establish a better and more structured process for our ambassadors
  • Onar: Help us develop a hot line to provide advice to foreign women in Turkey
  • Muhit 1.: How to develop an offline community next to the online community
  • Muhit 2: How to guide our potential users to download our app and learn how to use it
  • Ustamdan: Define a marketing strategy for our main target of our online site
  • Sehinersesver: How to get the Voice of our "customers" and make sure we know what they would like to change in their municipality
  • YenidenBiz: How to engage better our HR volunteers
  • Şefkat-Der  discover what we do and come to support us in giving soup to homeless

We had 75 participants, representants of 20 corporate companies like BMGI, Baker & Mc Kenzie, Boyner, Daimler Benz, Denizbank, Edenred, GDF Suez, Rabobank, Robert Bosch, Türk Telekom, etc... but also representants of NGOs (TEGV, SPOD, Sürüdebilir Yasam Festival, common purpose, etc) and from Bilig and Ozyegin University. Very senior level around the tables and hence very interesting brainstorming for the participating NGOs.

This would not have been possible without the support of the BMW Foundation (C@rma is a member of their Pro Bono network) and Bilgi Social Incubation Center.

Our next event will probably be in September. Register your skills (join us) if you want to be part of the next one.
