On 9 and 10 December, around 30 platforms across Europe and beyond met in Paris to discuss best practices and future of Crowdfunding. We spoke a lot about legislations, compliance, and consumer protection of course but I was amazed by three aspects:
- There were two kind of profiles: ex-banker or IT experts but everyone managed to speak the same language
- A very collaborative environment where, surprisingly, everyone was very keen to share best practices and everyone looks like a social entrepreneur, more willing to be part of something, to support the SMEs environment rather than becoming rich with a new hype sector.
- So many different models. It went beyond reward, equity, loan and donation. I heard speaking of loan, convertible loan, SPV, bond, participation to renewable energy project finance.
Unbelievable! The market is just at the initial phase but there are so many more to be developed! It felt incredible to be part to this energy!
