Mission & Activities
Who Am I? I am Tara, American, I have been in Turkey since 1989, I started Ashoka Turkey, I started the civic involvment program at university level and I now livin in Ayvalik. I have set up Cöp(m)adam in 2008 as a limited company.
What aim I striving to do: empower women, give people hope, provide women with a place where they can call their own, where they feel comfortable
What do we do at Cöp(m)adam: we make mostly useful and always fun items (wallets, bags, apron, pillowcases, etc.) out of throwaway materials and offer women an opportunity to earn their first salary. The women working with us can earn between 30 up to 1.000TL/months
So far we have done
- Worked with 400 women
- Produced and sold 20.000 items
- Worked with Unilever, produced for Ulker and Coca-Cola (we are in the Coca Cola Artisan catalogue)
To be able to respect the efforts of the women who worked with us by paying them on a regular basis and continue to be an example to others, we need some financial flexibility; for that reason, we will soon launch a crowdfunding campaign.
